Pahalgam terror attack: Govt must deliver real deterrence, not just

India and Pakistan’s ties have come under strain yet again, as India mounts its response to the terror attack in Pahalgam, the deadliest attack on civilians since Mumbai’s 26/11. The cabinet committee on security, India’s highest decision-making body on national security unleashed its response against Islamabad on several fronts. The Indus Waters Treaty has been suspended. There is a blanket ban on all Pakistan visas. India has also downgraded its diplomatic ties with Islamabad by reducing its mission strength. Pakistan has been asked to do the same. Pakistan has termed the suspension of Indus Waters Treaty as an act of war and have shut down its airspace to Indian airline companies.
