Pahalgam attack part of Pakistan’s strategy to reignite Kashmir issue,

India and Pakistan’s ties have come under strain yet again, as India mounts its response to the terror attack in Pahalgam, the deadliest attack on civilians since Mumbai 26/11. Jammu and Kashmir police said that two of the three terrorists involved in the attack are Pakistani citizens. The cabinet committee on security, India’s highest decision-making body on national security unleashed its response against Islamabad on several fronts. The Indus Waters Treaty has been suspended. There is a blanket ban on all Pakistan visas. India has also downgraded its diplomatic ties with Islamabad by reducing its mission strength. Pakistan has been asked to do the same.
